Dear MendMeShop,

I love the products and I can definitely tell they are making a big difference in my healing. I just wish I had known of your products even sooner. I was in a serious motorcycle accident back in July and broke 17 bones, had a collapsed lung, and had numerous twists and sprains along with a lot of swelling. I was in the intensive care unit for 7 days and then in the hospital for 7 more before I was able to go home. To make a long story short, since using your products my pain level has gone down immensely and the swelling is finally under control. I even take the Inferno wrist and back wrap to work and use it since I have a desk job that makes it possible. I am down to just walking with a cane now and will probably be able to get rid of that in about two weeks. I did twenty minutes on the stationary bike yesterday and walked for 1/2 mile on our treadmill. Within another couple months I hope to be back to jogging several miles every other day. The 4 Inferno Wraps and 2 Cold Cure products along with lots of prayers on my behalf have helped make the difference. Thanks again so much, and God Bless you guys for your products! Steve Brown P.S. Also, here is a little more about my status now. I just ran the Peachtree Road Race (a 10K event – 6.2 miles) in 9:07 per mile. That was back on July 4. I just ran a 5K (3.1 miles) in 8:22 per mile this last weekend. I truly believe the wraps helped me get that level of fitness back. Many people my age (55) don't even ever get in that kind of shape, let alone a year after a major accident with all the complications that I had. I still use the Freezie Wraps after running when I can and I still regularly use the Inferno Wraps before many of my runs and exercise to warm things up.

Dear MendMeShop,

I spent 7 years in the gym walking one hour and working out. I lost 85 pounds in about 2 years with a lot of hard work and dedication. After I left the gym in 2008 due to it closing I started having problems about a year later. I recently had surgery on my left shoulder on Jan 4th of this year to shave down the bone to leave enough space for my shoulder joint to work. It seemed to be healing slowly, until I probably reinjured it trying to cut down a small tree. I went back to my Orthopedic Surgeon for my follow up and had to have a cortizone shot in June so I could be painfree while on a long awaited vacation. The shot lasted until September and had another shot October 26 with a warning from the Dr that if I couldn't get any better through therapy by Jan 6 2011 I would have to have the full surgery with my tendons and muscles sewn up to the top of my Rotator Cuff. I told him I don't want to go through the pain again, since I can't take pain medication due to my daily med I have to take for PTSD and can't take them both at the same time. So I did some research for the last 2 months and kept coming up with the MendMeShop Left Shoulder Inferno Wrap. I printed all the material and showed it to my OS and he said to try it if I think it will help me. I received it in 2 days last Friday and was out of town overnight. So I didn't get to try it until Saturday night. I tried it wrapped over a sweater with a thermal shirt underneath and the heat went right through and felt like I was at the physical therapist. The next day I did a few 60 minute sessions and I could feel my muscles ache a little bit, but NO PAIN praise God !!! I was buying a large tube of Extra Strength Muscle Rub with 16 % Menthol once a week to bear the pain along with 800 ML of Ibuprofen.Today is Thursday and I haven't had to put any rub on my shoulder since coming home Saturday night. This Inferno Wrap is incredible and is worth every penny. I am on Disability so I can't afford to waste a penny, but this purchase is becoming a lifesaver for me. Sometimes I just unplug from the charger, tuck the little 8 inch connector, then I tighten the wrap to make it a compression support and the heat stays in it for hours and allows me to be able to function a lot less painful since I am left handed also. If I could give it a 10 star rating instead of a 5 star I would. I will keep you all up to date a few times a week as I progress, along with any replies I might receive. Sun Nov 14, 2010 2:51 pm

Dear MendMeShop,

I have purchased several pieces from your shop (Tortoise Shellz Full Body Therapy Pad along with two Wrist Inferno Wraps) and we are very happy with all of them. In fact, I don't know what we would do without them, as all the injuries are improving gradually. Thank you for these wonderful products, and thank you, too, for the personal attention to your customers. A rarity, in today's world!

Quadriceps Tendonitis (Tendinitis)

Quadriceps tendinitis - inflammation of the quadriceps tendon is caused by tiny tears that are not giving the proper rest to heal.

Quadriceps tendonitis is a painful condition affecting the quadriceps tendon above the kneecap. The quadriceps group of muscle is the largest in the front of the thigh and is very important for stabilizing the leg. The quadriceps tendon connects the quadriceps to the shin bone (tibia) via the patellar tendon, which encases the knee cap itself. The process known as the quadriceps mechanism involves the patella (knee cap), the patella tendon, the quadriceps and its tendon. They all work together to extend the leg to straight.

Quadriceps tendonitis is caused by repetitive use of this tendon. This condition is most common in an athlete who is in involved in sports that require lots of jumping such as basketball, volleyball and jogging, or in a sport that requires a lot of stopping and starting. Little tears in the tendon and tendon sheath will present as pain and inflammation if these tears are not allowed to heal with rest.

If your Achilles tendon is causing you pain, you are probably walking with less pressure on the injured side. This puts additional pressure on the opposite leg, knee and ankle and can lead to an overuse injury such as quadriceps tendintis or bursitis in the knee.

Quadriceps tendinitis can lead to tenosynovitis if left untreated.

Inflammation in the quadriceps tendon is often due to irritation and/or micro-tearing of the collagen fibers. When the fibers tear, they become weaker, inflamed and swollen causing pain and tenderness in the area.

Other conditions which can be a cause of anterior (front) knee pain are commonly confused with quadriceps tendonitis. These conditions include patellar tendonitis, synovial plicae, chondromalacia, patello-femoral subluxation and hyper-pressure, fat pad impingement or Hoffa's syndrome and patello-femoral arthritis.

Risk Factors for Quadriceps Tendinitis

  • Participating in "jumping" sports such as basketball, volleyball and jogging.
  • Having diabetes, gout or para-hypothyroidism.
  • Age can be a factor because as we grow older our tendons become more brittle and therefore prone to injury.
  • Activities that require sharp, sudden changes of direction or lots of stopping and starting.
  • Mis-alignment of the foot, ankle, and leg including flat feet, leg length discrepancy, tracking abnormalities, etc.

Symptoms

  • Pain when tightening or flexing the quads with a straight leg.
  • Pain when the top of the kneecap is pressed.
  • Irritation or pain when moving from a crouched position to a standing position.
  • Stiffness or tightness the day following any activity or exercise that irritated the area.

Knee Tendon Treatments

It is important to treat tendon injuries as soon as possible, as any activity or strain you put on your knee can re-injure it further. Though the pain, discomfort, and inconvenience of a knee injury can be overwhelming, it's possible to overcome it.

Scar tissue builds on the tendon and causes pain and inflexibility making it less flexible and more prone to further injury.

The trick with any tendon injury is getting it to heal with minimal scar tissue formation. In addition, if you heal your tendon quickly your chance of re-injury is much lower than average. Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy is great at achieving both!

Customer Reviews

Allowing an injured tendon to rest is always recommended. Avoid all activities that may have caused the injury or irritation and begin cold compression treatments as soon as possible. It is difficult to rest your knee completely as it is essential for walking and daily activities. Fortunately, there are healing tools that can help treat your tendon and speed up the healing process so you can get back to a life without pain and risk of further injury.

Freezie Wrap® Cold Compression Therapy

Doctors recommend using cold compression as soon as possible following an injury or re-injury to reduce pain and swelling and minimize tissue damage that occurs with tendonitis or tears.

Cold Cmpression Freezie Wrap Therapy for your knee injury will reduce pain, swelling and tissue damage for faster healing.

The Knee Freezie Wrap® allows you to treat your tendon in an effective and convenient way. The wrap is adjustable which allows you to control the compression to a level that is comfortable for you. And the Freezie Wrap® is the best cold compression wrap to treat your knee.

Here's why! The gel packs are chilled in the fridge not the freezer. This eliminates the risk of cryoburn, or 'cold burns', on your skin that can be cause by ice and strandard freezer gel packs. You can also wear the Freezie Wrap® for longer treatments so you can enjoy even more relief from your knee pain!

Cold Compression Therapy works by interrupting and slowing nerve and cell function in the injured area and reducing swelling that can block blood vessels. This is important because once blood vessels are blocked or damaged, they can no longer carry oxygenated blood through your tendon and tissue cells begin to break-down. Without cold compression therapy cellular break-down and tissue damage continues as the cells do not get the oxygen they need to survive. By limiting the amount of damage done to your tendon, you also limit the amount of healing that needs to occur. This is a very important step to heal your tendon faster and with less pain!

Dear MendMeShop,

I am a very active individual. If I am not running or lifting weights you can usually find me doing various outdoor and home improvement projects. That is why when I recently started experiencing pain in my shoulder, upper arm and forearm I concluded that I had aggravated an old rotator cuff injury. Initially I ignored the discomfort, thinking that that would make it magically disappear but, to my disappointment the pain only continued to get worse. After a couple of months of I pain, I decided to do something for myself. I tried stretching exercises, massage, the heating pad and ibprofen but nothing seemed to be helping. That's when I went online and found the Mend Me Shop and the inferno wrap for the shoulder seemed like a good way to wrap the heat around the immediate area that needed treating. When I picked up the package from the post office I was anxious to get started. I was so pleased that after only three days of using the products, I was feeling relief. It's only been a little over a week since I started treatments and I can say that I can once again imagine living without the that constant pain. Thanks so much for the relief !!!
