Dear MendMeShop,

I have to admit, I fully expected to be returning my order. (inferno wrap, freezie wrap) I told my wife "this is a lot of money and if doesn't work I'm sending it back", "I've got 60 days". Well after about 9 days of (2) treatments per day my severe case of Lateral Epicondylitis (tennis elbow) is almost pain free. I tried wearing the over the counter tendon support brace with absolutely no results. My elbow pain was so bad I couldn't sleep at night and just knew I was going to have to see a doctor. Then I found your website. I was very impressed with the quality of your wraps, very thick and made form high quality materials. I guess the old adage "you get what you pay for" speaks volumes here. I'm completely sold on your products and won't be returning anything!!! Thank you for helping heal my tennis elbow and I've already told many of my friends about your web site. 100% satisfied Cameron Caldwell from Meriden, KS.

Dear MendMeShop,

I am elated with the Shoulder Inferno and Freezie Wraps. I purchased. My shoulder is regaining strength, albeit slowly. Until I found your products I was in tremendous throbbing pain from a rotator cuff injury. For three months I used Chiropractors and exercise bands to no avail. The terrible throbbing has subsided and I am once again able to throw the ball with my two German Pointers! If I over do activity, the freeze wrap helps to calm the shoulder down. An hour after that I do the Inferno Wrap.

Dear MendMeShop,

I am most satisfied with the products that I purchased. It is clearly high quality and I am positive it will heal my knee in the long run. I am really looking forward to getting my knee sorted out permanently. I did have a knee operation about two years ago but there were no time to give it a decent recovery time. Unfortunately as a mechanic working on the power plant here in Salerno, we work on gravel surfaces 24/7 for 85 days before returning home for a 3 week vacation. At the age of 53 it becomes real stress full and I also had to put away my running shoes, which was also a blow to me. I am very confident that your products will get me back on the road again and I would love to do the Comrades ultra marathon in South Africa for the third time.

Peroneal Tendonitis and
Peroneal Tenosynovitis

Peroneal tendonitis (tendinitis) is inflammation of the peroneal tendons located on the outside of the ankle.

Peroneal tendonitis (also spelled tendinitis) is the inflammation and irritation of one or both of the peroneal tendons. Like all forms of tendonitis, peroneal tendonitis is a condition that may flare up and subside over a period of time. Fortunately, tendintis can be treated with cold compression and blood flow stimulation therapies.

Peroneal tendinitis is usually caused by repetitive use of the tendons, but can also be caused by trauma such as a rolled or sprained ankle. Little tears in the peroneus longus tendon and the peroneus brevis tendon irritate the tendon fibers resulting in pain and inflammation.

Peroneal tenosynovitis is swelling and inflammation of the peroneal tendons' sheaths (or coverings) which prevents them from gliding smoothly within the shealths causing pain. Tenosynovitis can occur along with tendonitis and has similar symptoms. It often results in trouble moving the ankle and will feel sore to the touch. In rare cases, tenosynovitis can be caused by infection, so it is always recommended to check with your doctor to rule this out as a cause.

A common cause of peroneal tendonitis is the stretching of the tendons during an inversion sprain or rolling over on your ankle.

The peroneus longus tendon and the peroneus brevis tendon are two major tendons that run along the outside of your ankle. They are collectively called the peroneal (or peroneus) tendons. These tendons are important because they prevent the foot from rolling and causing a lateral (inversion) ankle sprain. The peroneus tendons are slightly weaker than the muscles and tendons on the inside of the ankle and are more prone to tendintis, tears or strains. The tendons can also pop out of the supporting ligaments that hold them in place (a dislocation).

Peroneal Tear and Dislocation

Tearing or dislocation can occur in one or both of these tendons at a time. This leads to pain, swelling, sensitivity and a sense of instability on the outside of the ankle. If you experience a tear or dislocation you should see a doctor as recurrent tearing or dislocation is probably without immediate attention and repair. Stitching and at the worst, tendon replacement may be required for patients suffering from torn or dislocated peroneal tendon(s).

People who play racquet sports are at risk of experiencing peroneal tendonitis

Who is at Risk?

  • People who play sports or do activities that involve repetitive ankle movements.
  • People who participate in activities such as running on uneven surfaces, racket sports, basketball, hiking, or skiing.
  • People with high arches in their foot.
  • People in aging populations, because our tendons lose elasticity and become brittle.

Symptoms

  • Pain and/or swelling along the tendon and possibly up the leg along the fibularis longus muscle during or after activity.
  • A burning sensation along the tendon.
  • Pain either first thing in the morning or at night.
  • Stiffness in the foot and trouble stretching the area.

Ankle Tendon Treatments

Allowing your ankle to rest is always recommended when you are suffering from tendinitis, tendon tear or bone dislocation. Avoid all activities that may have caused the injury or irritation and begin cold compression treatments as soon as possible. The peroneal and posterior tibial tendons are difficult to rest completely as they are essential tendons for walking and daily activities. During your recovery, you will probably have to modify and/or eliminate any activities that cause pain or discomfort in your ankle until the pain and inflammation settle.

Scar tissue builds on the ankle tendons as they heal. The build up causes pain and inflexibility in the tendons making them more prone to further injury.

The trick with healing an ankle tendon injury is getting it to heal with minimal scar tissue formation. Even with optimum healing, there is always less elasticity in previously injured peroneal tendons. This will cause the tendons to hurt during daily activities and exercise. However, if you heal your ankle tendons efficiently and quickly, your chance of re-injury later on is much lower than average.

Customer Reviews

Fortunately, there are healing tools that can help treat your peroneal and posterior tibial tendons and speed up the healing process so you can get back to a life without pain and risk of further injury. Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy (BFST®) promotes blood flow to heal your tendons faster and more completely than any other methods available.

Cold Compression Therapy

Doctors recommend using cold compression as soon as possible following an ankle injury, like a sprain, and after any re-injury. This will reduce pain and swelling and minimize tissue damage that occurs with soft tissue injuries like tendon tears and tendinitis.

Cold Compression
Freezie Wrap Therapy for your peroneal tendinitis inflammation and pain.

The Ankle/Achilles Freezie Wrap® allows you to treat the pain and swelling of your peroneal tendinitis or posterior tibial tendinitis in an effective and convenient way.

The wrap is adjustable which allows you to control the compression to a level that is comfortable for you and the gel packs are chilled in the fridge not the freezer. This eliminates the risk of cryoburn, or 'cold burns', on your skin that can be cause by ice and strandard freezer gel packs. You can also wear the Freezie Wrap® for longer treatments so you can enjoy even more relief from your ankle pain!

How to Order

Cold Compression Therapy works by interrupting and slowing nerve and cell function in the injured area and reducing swelling that can block blood vessels. This is important because once blood vessels are blocked or damaged, they can no longer carry oxygenated blood through the peroneal tendons and tissue cells begin to break-down. Without cold compression therapy cellular break-down and tissue damage continues as the cells do not get the oxygen they need to survive. By limiting the amount of damage, you also limit the amount of healing that needs to occur. This is a very important step to heal your ankle tendons faster and with less pain!

The deep cooling effect provided by the Ankle/Achilles Freezie Wrap® gives you the fast, effective relief your sore ankle has been looking for!

Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy

Once inflammation has been reduced, nourishing and strengthening the tendon tissue and surrounding area is recommended.

Ankle Inferno Wrap promotes blood flow to the tendon to speed healing and strengthen the surrounding tissue.

Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy, or BFST®, will speed your recovery and heal your ankle tendons more completely preparing them for strengthening exercises.

BFST® increases the amount of blood that flows naturally to your ankle to nourish your tendons and ligaments, improving elasticity and accelerating the healing process.

By treating your ankle with Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy you can increase your body's natural healing power. In addition, the fresh blood flow whisks away dead cells and toxins that have built up from tendonitis and tissue damage leaving the area clean and able to heal faster. Our Ankle/Achilles Inferno Wrap® provides effective, non-invasive, non-addictive pain relief and healing with no side effects.

Dear MendMeShop,

Just want to let you know that I've had a chance to use the Freeze Wrap. I fell down on my tail bone and injured it slightly. I put the Freeze Wrap on my behind every night while watching TV, and it seems to help it a lot. I alternate between the 2 ice packs, keeping one in the freezer at all times. Thought you might be interested in this for the follow-up of your products. Will recommend your products highly to anyone interested. Sincerely, Irene
