Dear MendMeShop,

Two years ago, after returning to the gym for the first time in over a decade, I developed intense lower back pain which radiated into my left hip and leg. I also developed snapping hip syndrome. After many expensive visits to a chiropractor and physical therapist, I gained some relief, but still experienced constant low level pain in the injured areas with episodes of intense debilitating pain which interfered with my sleep and work. After searching online for alternative and cost effective self treatment methods, I discovered your website and purchased your Back/Hip Inferno Wrap and Back/Hip Freezie Wrap. Within a short period of time of using these products, I noticed a huge reduction in pain. Two months later, the pain is barely noticeable, the snapping hip syndrome is an unpleasant memory and I feel that significant long term healing of chronic injuries is taking place. I absolutely LOVE your products, and enthusiastically recommend them to everyone I meet who is experiencing similar pain issues. Kudos to Paul and everyone in your customer service department which is beyond compare in terms of knowledge, promptness and genuine concern for your customers!

Dear MendMeShop,

I have used the Hip inferno device for 9 days now. The results so far are great. I have bursitis and have been getting injections which were helping less and less. With your product, the pain has lessened dramatically. The swelling has gone down as well as the tingling and the numbness in my hip. This is remarkable and welcomed relief as I have a vacation planned in 2 weeks and now I can't wait. You spoke to me on the phone about a back product as I have chronic back pain from an L5-S1 Spondylolithesis. I can't remember which but if you can suggest it again I would like to try it. Again Thanks for your concern and your product. It has certainly increased the "Quality of my Life" already. Regards Steve

Dear MendMeShop,

My back is feeling better. Regular heating pads don't seem to work as well as the Inferno - I would assume due to their lack of penetration. The Inferno Wrap is of good benefit at this point. Thanks for a great product.

Dear MendMeShop,

I have nothing but good to say about the Inferno Wrap. I am continuing to use it daily. My shoulder is better than I imagined it could be in the amount of time I have been using it. Sometimes I go for days with no pain and when it does come back, it is no where near the intensity it was before the Inferno Wrap. Thank you so much for tracking my progress. A very happy customer, Louise Schiotis

Prevention of Shoulder Bursitis

Proper

Maintaining a healthy shoulder joint is the best way to prevent bursitis. If your shoulder becomes sore from overuse or a strain, allow it sometime to rest so it can repair itself. This will help to prevent the problem from becoming more serious.

Proper Posture

Maintain a strong posture by standing tall; do not slouch as this puts excess strain on your shoulder joint, neck and upper back muscles. Also, avoid lifting objects that are too heavy for you.

Improve Strength

Regular exercise will help to balance your upper body, abdominal and lower body strength, as well as your opposing (opposite) muscle groups to avoid physical imbalances. If you are not balanced, you are at a higher risk of experiencing muscular strains because your body will rely on its stronger muscles to compensate for its weaker ones; this affects your body's alignment.

Regular

To stabilize your shoulder joint and preserve your range of motion, maintain the strength of your muscles and tendons. This will support the bones and ligaments and encourage your shoulder to stay aligned and function properly. If you have a tendency to suffer from shoulder pain, a regular exercise program that focuses on strengthening, stretching and endurance exercises for your shoulder muscles will help to keep your rotator cuff strong. However, avoid behind the neck pull downs or neck presses.

If you start a new activity, remember to avoid doing too much to soon to give your body an opportunity to build up its endurance. Gradually increase your participation to prevent overworking your muscles.

Prepare for Activity

Do

To prevent injuring your rotator cuff while participating in activities ensure you:

  • Warm up and cool down your muscles before and after working them
  • Learn and use the proper form and techniques
  • Choose appropriate equipment

This is especially important when participating in something new such as rowing, weightlifting, racquet or throwing sports.

To warm up your shoulder before participating in activity, give yourself an Inferno Wrap® treatment. This gets the blood flowing to the tissues, improving elasticity and preparing your muscles, tendons and ligaments for use. By warming the tissues you reduce the risk of strain or tearing.

Rest

If you are suffering from shoulder pain, decrease and/or avoid any repetitive motions that cause irritation (usually overhead or reaching actions). If you are required to perform these motions at work or play and can not avoid them, make sure you take frequent breaks and rest your shoulder to prevent rotator cuff fatigue.

Mild inflammation or pain can occur after activities or certain repetitive movements. If so, use cold therapy when you complete the activity and rest your arm and shoulder.

Follow Through on Treatments

If you have been given a treatment plan by your health professional, make sure you adhere to it to ensure pain free living. In general, people who are committed to their therapies and exercises will have the best medical outcomes.

Below, you will find information about how to treat bursitis easily and painlessly in the comfort of your own home. Once your bursa has healed follow the prevention tips above to stop it from recurring. If you continue to use the same therapies after your bursitis has been treated, it will further reduce your risk of it returning. Cold therapy and Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy can be used as needed for maintenance and to relieve the stiffness caused by daily activities.

How to Treat Shoulder Bursitis

Relieving the symptoms of bursitis initially focuses on keeping the pressure off the bursa (i.e. carrying a backpack or purse on the opposite shoulder). Surgery may be required if your bursa irritation is a result of a bone formation problem, such as a hooked acromion causing impingement of the bursa. If your bursitis is caused by an infection (septic bursitis), the doctor will probably drain the bursa sac with a needle and prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection.

Scar tissue develops as damaged rotator cuff tissue heals. This can lead to re-injury or other painful conditions if left untreated.

For non-infectious bursitis, the preliminary treatment starts with non-operative options such as cold therapy. Surgery to remove the inflamed bursa is normally not required for bursitis, however if you fail to see improvement with the conservative treatments, your physician may recommend surgery to remove the bursa completely. Although this removes the problem of an inflamed bursa, you are left with less cushioning in your rotator cuff which can lead to a host of other shoulder pain and problems.

The most important factor in healing bursitis is resting your shoulder. This can be difficult when you have to carry on with daily activities, but resting your shoulder whenever you can is recommended. During your recovery you will probably have to modify or avoid the activities that stress your bursa until your pain and inflammation settle.

Treatments should involve decreasing swelling, relieving stress on the shoulder, correcting any biomechanical dysfunction (hooked acromion, bone spur, etc.), treating scar tissue, and then restoring strength and movement in your shoulder.

Cold Compression Therapy

To decrease inflammation and relieve the pain of rotator cuff bursitis doctor's recommend cold therapy.

The Shoulder Freezie Wrap treats pain, swelling and inflammation caused by rotator cuff tendonitis while reducing tissue damage.

Applying cold to your inflamed bursa will help decrease the swelling and redness around it. Cold therapy will also help to numb the pain in your shoulder and rotator cuff and help to control the inflammation.

Cooling your inflamed bursa as needed throughout the day is recommended. Do not apply ice directly on your skin, rather wrap it in a cloth or towel or, better yet, use a cold wrap that fits easily and comfortably to your body.

The Shoulder Freezie Wrap® has a supercharged cooling gel pack that chills in the fridge, not in the freezer like ice or other freezer packs, giving you deep cold therapy without the risk of 'cold burns' or cryoburn. It can be used to apply cold in a safe, convenient and effective way - and the gel pack is reusable.

The wrap is soft and adjustable so it fits your shoulder properly, without irritating the bursa, and allows you to adjust the compression. This is important when treating an inflamed bursa because too much pressure can cause you further pain. You control how much pressure the bursa receives so you can benefit from the compression to hold the cold where you need it, without increasing your pain.

How to Order

Applying cold to your tender bursa and rotator cuff is the first step in treating your bursitis. Then begin Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy to continue the healing process.

Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy
Shoulder Inferno Wraps speed the healing of rotator cuff tendon injuries and tears.

Once the inflammation of your bursitis has been reduced with cold therapy it is time to improve blood flow and improve the elasticity of your surrounding soft tissue. Your body needs a fresh supply of blood to improve the health of your tissue and get your bursae and rotator cuff tendons healthy again.

Unfortunately, when you are suffering from bursitis it is painful to lift your arm and use you shoulder. When you limit movement in your shoulder the blood flow is reduced, starving your tissue of the necessary oxygen and nutrients.

The trick is to find a way to increase blood flow without causing pain and/or further inflaming the bursae. This is where Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy (BFST®) becomes a powerful tool. BFST® compliments your body's natural healing process by promoting the flow of blood to your shoulder while you give it the rest it needs.

The Shoulder Inferno Wrap® uses a patented process to generate the same energy that is part of the sun's spectrum of light, the same energy that is necessary to all living things for optimum health. The energy emitted from the Energy Web® stimulates blood flow to your rotator cuff, more than your body would ever be able to generate on it's own, giving your body the boost it needs to continue the reconditioning process. The healing energy reaches deep into your shoulder bursae and rotator cuff tendons to speed tissue repair, whisk away the toxins and dead cells, and rejuvenate your rotator cuff tissues for improved elasticity.

With these easy-to-use, home therapies you will notice significantly reduced pain and an incredible improvement in your rotator cuff range of motion.

We recommend that you consult your doctor and/or physiotherapist before using any of our outstanding products, to make sure they're right for you and your condition.

Pain and Anti-inflammatory

(NSAIDs - Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) can be used if required to help manage your pain. However, these aren't recommended for long term use, as they can cause gastrointestinal difficulties and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. The use of cold therapy and BFST® in conjunction with NSAIDs can greatly improve the effect of this medication and can help to heal quicker.

Surgical Procedures

Your doctor may aspirate the inflamed bursa. This involves removing the extra fluid that has built up with a needle. Sometimes, the fluid will be tested at a laboratory to rule out infection.

If your bursitis does not get better with conservative treatments, a subacromial decompression may be done. It is an arthroscopic procedure, so tine incisions are made and a pencil-sized camera is inserted into the shoulder. A small shaver is inserted into another incision, and is used to remove the swollen bursa all together. The surgeon will then look for any damage to the rotator cuff. If the subacromial space is small, the surgeon may use a burr to shave the acromion down in order to create more space for the rotator cuff tendons. This is also done to remove any bone spurs in the shoulder.

Recovery time for the surgery will depend a number of different factors including your healing ability, diet, rest and how many procedures were done in your surgery. Your doctor will advise you on your recovery, and will let you know if/when physical therapy can be started.
