Dear MendMeShop,

Dear Mend Me Shop, I was suffering from the beginning stage of plantar fasciitis and the freezie ice compression and the inferno wrap were a great help to me! The pain and inflammation is gone and if it creeps back up, I use the products for about 30 min each and it takes care of it! I have already recommended it to family members that also have plantar fasciitis. Sincerely, Lara

Dear MendMeShop,

The first time I used the shoulder inferno wrap and the freezie wrap was to treat a rotator cuff injury I sustained from over use and aging. I was in my early 60's and an avid tennis player, kayaker, skier, hiker and biker for most of my life. Doctors were recommending surgery but I opted for physical therapy. This helped but did not give me the relief I needed to continue with all of my athletic activities. Then I started using your product. After activities where I used my shoulder, even weight training, I used the freezie wrap followed by the inferno wrap. Then I used the inferno wrap periodically throughout the day while at work. I'm a therapist and my clients were OK with me wearing the wrap during sessions if I felt the need to. I experienced the ability to use my shoulder and be completely pain free. I was thrilled. Then at age 65 I began to have achilles tendon inflammation which became extremely painful. Doctors explained to me that as we age tendons lose flexibility and are more prone to injury. I bought that explanation to a point but again tried physical therapy, prolonged stretching, Ibuprofen and rest. I had relief if I used large regular doses of anti-inflamatory medications but was concerned about the long term negative affects of the meds. I purchased the Ankle inferno and freezie wrap and began the same routine I had used with my rotator cuff injury. I'm happy to say the results were the same. Even this aging body was able to repair and stretch my achilles tendon with exercise, and the cold and warm treatments from your products. Now I am still playing tennis and doing all of my other activities and I remain pain free. After athletics I use the freezie wrap followed by the inferno wrap. Also, before I play racket sports or hike I use the inferno wrap on my ankle and follow with gentle stretching. When I get home I use the freezie wrap. Who knows how long I will be able to continue my active life style. But right now I know that these products are enabling me to be an active, vibrant, aging woman who can (almost) keep up with my kids. I should add that I also maintain a healthy weight, train with weights, exercise every day and eat a plant based diet with lean protein. Even my healthy lifestyle wasn't enough to prevent these nagging injuries that become more prevalent as we age. So....thanks for making a great product ...... and my life more manageable.

Flexor Tendinitis of the Wrist/Hand
Trigger Finger

There are many tendons in the forarms, wrists, hands, and fingers that work together to grasp, twist, pick up items, and more. The tendons are strong connective tissues that join muscles to bones. In the inner wrist and palm of the hands a group of tendons called flexor tendons connect the flexor muscles in the forearm to the finger bones. The muscles pull on the tendons which cause the fingers to bend, or flex. The tendons run through a series of rings, or pulleys, that form tunnels along the fingers and thumb. They work similar to a line guided along a fishing rod, with the pulleys holding the tendon close to the bone. These tendons are made up of tissue called collagen and elastin, ensuring that they are both tough and flexible.

Extensor Tendonitis in the hand

Flexor tendons need to glide smoothly and are enclosed by synovium, a thin sheath of smooth tissue that allows for easier movement. When the tendons become irritated and inflamed, their ability to glide within these compartments is restricted. This causes wrist and hand pain during movement and tenderness when direct pressure is applied. When the flexor tendons are inflamed it is referred to as flexor tendinitis, also spelled tendonitis.

Tendinitis usually begins with tiny tears in the tendon fibers which can tear apart in much the same way a rope becomes frayed. Once a tendon becomes frayed, an inflammatory response is triggered; over time an inflamed tendon can become thick, bumpy and irregular making it more difficult to glide during hand movements. Without proper rest and time to heal, a damaged tendon can become permanently weakened.

Trigger Finger

Flexor tendinitis is also referred to as "Trigger Finger". Often when tendinitis occurs in one of the flexor tendons it causes the tendon to swell creating a nodule. This nodule becomes too large to easily move through the pulley that holds the tendon to the bone. When you flex your finger, the tendon tries to move through the pulley but the nodule catches at the front of the joint causing the finger to stick at the base of the finger.

Causes of Wrist Tendinitis

If tendons are stressed enough from excessive or unconditioned use, the sheath lining can become inflamed and movements may be painful as the tendons glide through the inflamed sheath.

Activities with frequent finger movement, such as typing and sewing, can also cause overuse of the tendons resulting in finger pain.

Some people are predisposed to flexor tendinitis if their body has a tendency to collect fluid around the tendons and joints. This can occur with conditions such as rheumatoid arhtritis, diabetes, and gout.

Flexor Tendinitis Symptoms

If you are suffering from tendinitis in the flexor tendons you may experience one or all of the following symptoms:

  • Pain during contraction, stretching and when pressure is applied to the flexor tendons
  • Stiffness and loss of flexibility in your fingers
  • Clicking in your finger joints
  • Swelling and tenderness where the tendon inserts at the finger
  • Pain when bending your finger against resistance

An injury to these tendons can make everyday tasks difficult, and may very well affect a person's performance or abilities at work and during daily tasks. At present the results of tendon repair surgery are far from ideal, as such an invasive technique can often create excess scar tissue (adhesions) between the sheath and the tendon, restricting mobility and leading to a loss of function.

Treating Your Wrist Tendon

Scar tissue builds on the tendon as the tears heal. The build up causes pain and inflexibility in the tendon making it less flexible and more prone to further injury.

The trick with any tendon injury is getting it to heal with minimal scar tissue formation and with as much realignment of the tendon fibres as possible. Even with optimum healing, there is always less elasticity in a previously injured tendon. This will cause the tendon to hurt, during everyday activities. If you heal your injury efficiently and quickly, your chance of re-injury later on is much lower than average.

Allowing your tendon to rest is always recommended following injury. Try to avoid grasping, wringing, twisting and pinching or any other activities that may have caused the injury or irritation and begin cold compression treatments as soon as possible. The tendons in the thumbs and fingers are difficult to rest completely as they are essential for daily chores and activities.

Customer Reviews

Fortunately, there are healing tools that can help treat your tendons and speed up the healing process so you can get back to a life without pain and risk of further injury. Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy (BFST®) promotes blood flow to heal your tendon faster and more completely which means less scar tissue formation and greater elasticity in the tissue.

Although steroid injections may provide temporary relief from the pain of tendinitis and tenosynovitis, multiple injections should be avoided as they weaken the tendon and may lead to a rupture.

Freezie Wrap® Cold Compression Therapy
The Wrist Freezie Wrap treats pain, swelling and inflammation caused by tendinitis and tenosynovitis while reducing tissue damage.

Doctors recommend using cold compression as soon as possible following an acute tendon injury and re-injury to reduce pain and swelling and minimize tissue damage.

The Wrist Freezie Wrap® allows you to treat your tendon in an effective and convenient way. The wrap is versatile with Velcro attachments so you can wrap it around your hand, wrist or forearm where you need it. It's adjustable which allows you to control the compression to your comfort level.

Designed with ColdCure Technology®, the gel packs are chilled in the fridge not the freezer. This eliminates the risk of cryoburn, or 'cold burns', on your skin that can be cause by ice and strandard freezer gel packs. You can also wear the Freezie Wrap® for longer treatments so you can enjoy even more relief from your wrist or thumb pain!

Cold Compression Therapy works by interrupting and slowing nerve and cell function in the injured area and reducing swelling that can block blood vessels. This is important because once blood vessels are blocked or damaged, they can no longer carry oxygenated blood to the tendon and tissue cells begin to break-down. Without cold compression therapy cellular break-down and tissue damage continues as the cells do not get the oxygen they need to survive. By limiting the amount of damage done to your tendon, you also limit the amount of healing that needs to occur. This is a very important step to heal your tendon faster and with less pain!

The deep cooling effect provided by the Wrist Freezie Wrap® gives you the fast, effective relief your sore tendon has been looking for!

Inferno Wrap® Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy
The Wrist Inferno Wrap speeds the healing of tendon tissue and the surrounding area.

After the inflammation and swelling is gone you can begin to treat your tendon with Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy (BFST®). BFST® increases the amount of blood that flows naturally to your wrist to nourish your tendons and ligaments to speed healing.

Tendons receive a limited blood supply by nature and this significantly reduces the ability to heal.

By treating your tendon with BFST® you can increase your body's blood supply to the wrist and increase your body's natural healing power. In addition, the fresh blood flow whisks away dead cells and toxins that have built up from the injury leaving the area clean and able to heal faster. Our Wrist Inferno Wrap® provides effective, non-invasive, non-addictive pain relief and healing with no side effects.

Dear MendMeShop,

I have been using the inferno wrap for about 3 weeks now and the results are outstanding. I could feel relief after the first use of the inferno wrap. About 2 years ago the doctor told me I had plantar fasciitis and heel spurs. The heel of my feet hurt so badly, I could hardly walk. Getting out of bed in the mornings was pain beyond belief. I would hold on to the bed railings to take a step. After going to the doctors and getting cortizone injections, ordering custom made insoles, exercises, taping my arch, and therapy, my feet were still hurting. I stopped the doctor visits for lack of relief. I was paying out so much money with no results. Not knowing what else to do, I prayed and asked God to show me what I could do to get releif. I came across the mend me website and read the entire article on foot problems and the products. What it said made so much sense to me. I felt it would be the right thing for me. I love the way it talks about the body and explain how it should work. What really drew me the most and encouraged me to order was: the site said your body was designed to heal itself. I am a firm believer in organic healing and avoiding medication and surgery whenever possible. When I read about the blood flow I was sold on the product. I know that blood is the life of the body. When I wear the inferno wrap I don't want to take it off. It gives relief and warmth right where it hurts. I will be ordering other products for the feet as well. Thanks for the information you give on each part of the body. I have referred your website to several people for different ailments.
