Dear Paul, I wanted to e-mail you and let you know how things are going. In your last e-mail to me you made a very profound statement that I had never heard before. I have been to several doctors over the past 10 years and not any one of them ever told me that snapping hip syndrome was a manifestation of short leg syndrome. I truly think that many of my problems are layers that have had to have been slowly peeled away to find out what the problem is that is causing each and every one of them. I thought about the statement that you made and I applied it. Several years back I had a chiropractor tell me that I had short leg syndrome and that I had fallen arches in my right foot and leg. He ordered me an orthotic and a lift to make up the difference. My foot hurt all the time and my right hip hurt all the time and so I stoppd wearing them. A few years later I discovered that I had a bad right ovary. Once I had a doctor that agreed that it was bad and removed it and all that pain went away I was left with my right foot hurting. I found arch supports that made that better but then I had the bursitus and snapping hip syndrome symptoms. No Doctor knew what to do for me and basically tried to give me pain medication to cover it up. I don't want to cover anything up. I want to find the root of the problem and treat it. So, I got to thinking about your statement. (I know it seems like I am going around this same tree, but I will get there) My thought was that because of the pain I was suffering from my ovary, maybe with that all gone I should try the lifts again and see what happens. I am telling you...that one little statement you made took care of my bursitis and my snapping hip syndrome. I am no longer suffering from any of that. I am sleeping well at night. Thank you for your statement. You just don't know how much that has meant to me. You don't know me, you have never met me but you literally saved the quality of my life. It took me a few days after I read your e-mail to put two and two together so to speak but it was worth trying again. Thank you so much.

Gilmore's Groin Symptoms

If you have Gilmore's groin there are often no obvious external symptoms or signs.

However, you generally experience a deep or sharp pain and discomfort from your lower abdomen and pelvis to your urogenital and groin area (your lower stomach muscles around to your pubic bone and under to the bottom of your body between your legs) especially with sudden movements or when exerting yourself in activities that involve kicking, twisting, side-stepping, sprinting, and lifting. Some people experience testicular pain as well. Activities that increase intra-abdominal pressure like resistance sit-ups, coughing or sneezing can aggravate the pain. You will often feel pain and tenderness on one side of the abdomen or groin near the pubic tubercle (bump), which radiates into the genital area, and can move down into the hip and/or inner thigh area.

This pain and accompanying stiffness can be experienced during or after activities, and can last for hours or weeks. You may find it difficult to get out of your car a few hours after your activity and/or find it hard to get out of bed the next morning. Your Gilmore's groin pain will often go away with rest, however it generally returns when you resume the activity.

Weakness in the upper thigh area with adduction (bringing upper leg or hip closer to the centre of your body) can be seen and/or experienced with Gilmore's groin when running, walking or kicking.

Should You Seek Medical Attention?

This is up to your discretion; however any continued discomfort in your groin or pelvis area should be investigated. If you continue to experience the Gilmore's groin symptoms noted above it is recommended that you seek professional medical attention. If you experience any of the symptoms noted below it is recommended that you seek immediate attention:

  • Severe pain and tenderness.
  • Problems or swelling in or around the genitalia (penis, scrotum, testicles).
  • A cut, lump or bulge or bleeding in your groin area.
  • Major hip/thigh movement problems causing a severe limp.
  • Urinary problem.
  • A groin rash.
  • Postoperative problem after groin operation.
  • Exposure to an STD.
  • Groin pain has not improved after 1 week, where symptoms are more severe or frequent.
  • Signs of shock (lightheadedness, restlessness, shallow breathing, sweating, weakness, nausea.)

Groin Injury Treatments

If you have a muscle pull or strain in your groin, resting it is recommended. Avoid activities that cause pain or may have caused the injury and begin cold compression treatments as soon as possible.

First I have a bad knee with arthritis and loss of cartilage. Over a year ago I was advised by my doctor to get a knee replacement. I am 70 years old using a arthritis drug, it is not effective as it once was, so I have been getting special shots in my knee, This combination brought my pain level down quite a bit. But I was looking for more because I didn’t want a knee replacement yet. I found you add on the internet for the Freezie and Inferno Wraps. I bought both. When my knee swells from too much activity I use freeze to help bring down the swelling. The freeze really works great and relieves the pain. On a Daily basis when I get up, I use the Inferno Wrap and I immediately can become active for most normal activities for the day without pain, unless I overdo then I do the Freezie. I also use the heat at night when I go to bed which relieves any pain I might have then. I have since bought an Inferno knee wrap for my wife and she says it is the best thing she has ever used to comfort her bad knees. Both her knees are bad with arthritis, and she is wanting another one so she can do both knees at the same time. I also have a lower back that for years was either causing spasms in either side when I would overdo activities, I bought the back Inferno after having such great success with it, each morning I lay it on the bed and lie on it for 20 min before I start my Daily activities.
