Dear MendMeShop,

I have adhesive capsulitus and supraspinata calcification. I was advised by the specialist to rest the joint and let it heal itself with little to no recommendation re exercise (say 6/12/18 months!!!). After seeing an osteopath and researching the internet I saw your site re ultrasound and asked my physio his opinion. He loaned me a commercial unit and after three days treatment (three times per day) with exercise in the shower my inflammation was reduced and range of movement radically increased. Hence the order from Mendmeshop and I have used the Ultrasound unit since receipt. I am now back at golf with no pain from the golf swing and virtually full range of motion of the arm. Have also used to radically reduce soft tissue soreness around the ankle bone and knee hence I am very pleased with the Mendmeshop Ultrasound unit and the service provided by Mendmeshop prior to purchase. I bought two and I am taking the second unit across the country for my sons Xmas present as he has used Ultrasound to help with back problems.

Gilmore's Groin Medications and Natural Supplements

Pain medications (analgesics) and Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can be used if required to help manage your Gilmore's Groin pain. However, these medications will not cure this problem - they will merely treat your symptoms.

NSAIDs cam be help but will not cure your pain

These drugs aren't recommended for everyone or for long term use, as pain medications can cause liver damage, and NSAIDs can cause gastrointestinal difficulties (such as upset stomach, diarrhea, ulcers and intestinal bleeding). They can also trigger other serious side effects, and even inhibit the bodys natural ability to heal itself. COX-2 Inhibitors (prescription NSAIDs like Celebrex, Bextra or Vioxx, block the COX-2 enzyme involved with prostaglandin production responsible for inflammation) have been linked with risks of heart attack, stroke and in some cases death. The US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) asked manufacturers to withdraw some COX-2 Inhibitors (Vioxx and Bextra) from the market as well as put a big black warning label on the packaging outlining the risks involved with use (Celebrex).

Cortisone/steroid injections or topical medications may initially help reduce inflammation and swelling; however steroids may actually cause more harm than good if used on a long term basis. Ask your doctor if these are a possible option for your Gilmore's Groin. Corticosteroids should be used with caution and never in conjunction with ultrasound therapy.

Some health professionals have also recommended natural supplements such as Glucosamine, MSM, Chondritin, Capsaicin, Devil1s Claw, or Yucca Leaf to help relieve pain and/or strengthen your tissues. Hyaluronic Acid (Hyalgan) injections have also had a lot of success.

Alternating Hot Therapy and Cold Therapy treatments can be used once your initial pain has decreased to provide relief and improve function. Heat Therapy involves using a hot compress to help reduce your aches and pains, muscle spasms, joint and muscle stiffness that may accompany your athletic pubalgia, and will help increase blood flow to your injury. Cold Therapy involves using a cold compress to help decrease any inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, as well as tendon and ligament sprains and strains, by constricting blood flow and restricting fluid build up. Cold also has a numbing effect on your nerves to decrease feelings of pain.

The best way to get hot/cold therapy is by using a dual purpose Hot/Cold gel pack on the injured area. These are very effective, convenient, mess-free and long lasting. They are easy to use because they are portable, can be warmed up in the microwave or cooled in the freezer, and mold themselves to your knee shape. Once the treatment is over they can be washed and reused over and over again. You can also put the gel packs in a washable, polar fleece wrap to secure the packs to your body (very effective when the pain is in a hard to reach or multiple areas) and to create a barrier between your skin and the pack to prevent heat/ice burn.

BFST™ - Using Your Body's Natural Healing System

Inferno Wrap providing superior blood flow stimulation.

Your body can heal itself! In fact, your body starts healing itself the moment you are injured and it's the blood in your body that makes it all happen. Your blood is the transport mechanism for everything that is good inside you. It carries oxygen, nutrients, water and antibodies. Proper blood flow is essential to healing. Unfortunately, when you injure your body you stop moving and the swelling sets in. That means your vital blood flow can be reduced to a trickle! If you want to heal quickly, you need to keep your blood moving and that's where Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy™, or BFST™, comes in.

Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy™ promotes the flow of blood through the injured area without the need to exercise your already damaged tissue. You can really feel it work. Within moments of applying an Inferno Wrap™ you can feel the healing sensation and the increase in blood flow. During a treatment, and for quite some time after you finish, your injured area will experience increased blood flow even though your body is at rest. It's a soothing sensation and extremely effective. With BFST™ your injury is constantly being fed with healing, nutritious, oxygen and energy filled blood. This is exactly what your body needs to heal.

xyliss ultrasound

Ultrasound therapy is also a helpful tool for pain prevention of groin injuries, and having a portable ultrasound device at home can be a powerful and convenient treatment tool. If you have symptoms or are recovering from a groin injury, using ultrasound on a regular basis before your activity or throughout the day will help relax your muscles, tendons and tissues, diminish pain and inflammation, soften scar tissue and contribute greatly to the healing of your injury.

If you suffer from mild inflammation or pain after certain activities or movements use ultrasound therapy when you complete the activity and then rest and elevate your area of injury. Limit the application of ultrasound to a couple of treatments per day (the manual will recommend treatment frequency depending upon the injury). In between ultrasound treatments, maximize your pain relief and injury recovery by using an Inferno™ Personal Therapy System. Proven Performance, Proven Relief - only found at MendMeShop.com. If you have been given a treatment plan by your health professional, make sure you adhere to it to ensure pain free living. In general, people who are committed to their therapies and exercises will have the best medical outcomes.

Dear MendMeShop,

The MendMeShop ultrasound device I bought has been a great purchase...well worth the money. The ultrasound gel seems so much better than the gel they use at the physical therapy or chiropractic offices. I initially bought the ultrasound device for an Achilles problem, and that was taken care of within 3 weeks. I am a runner who competes in races ranging from a mile to the marathon distance and competes in duathlons and triathlons. In January of 2008 I had a severe injury of my hamstring. I took it easy, iced, and waited for the pain to go away (at this point I had not heard about a home ultrasound device.) I was able to continue running after the pain lessened, but my range of motion was limited. My right leg was tight because of the hamstring injury. In May of 2008 I was running in a boot camp class and re-injured the hamstring. An MRI showed a right hamstring strain and extensive bursitis of the right hip. I began using the ultrasound device 3 times a day and I can say that my hamstring and hip are pain free. I have not had this much flexibility/range of motion in my right leg for over a year and a half.
