About Head and Neck Injury Trauma Headaches ...women have a higher risk ofincurring a post-traumatic headache...
![]() As expected, a headache may very well occur after an injury to the head, neck or brain. It is also quite common for other symptoms to occur after a head injury such as dizziness, insomnia, lack of concentration and more. The occurence of these conditions, including a headache, is known as the post-traumatic syndrome. A painful headache is usually the most overwhelming post-traumatic condition following a head injury. In most cases, the post-traumatic headache will closely resemble the symptoms of a tension headache. In some cases, a typical Migraine with or without aura may be triggered. Women have a higher risk of incurring a post-traumatic headache, and the older a person is, the slower the recovery. There is quite a bit of controversial data surrounding injury severity and headache severity, but most studies conclude that post-traumatic headache is less likely to arise when the head injury is more severe. Acute and Chronic Post-traumatic Headache If you have suffered a head or neck injury, it is very important that you seek medical attention immediately. Some headaches caused by head trauma, can be a sign of a more serious problem such as a haematoma (bleeding in the brain). A haematoma has been known to occur even on considerably minor head traumas and it is very important to seek medical help immediately Both the chronic and acute post-traumatic headaches are diagnosed when a headache occurs following moderate to severe head injury and a couple other conditions are met such as, loss of consciousness (30 minutes or more), post-traumatic amnesia or skull fracture, for example. The headache will have developed within 7 days of the injury as well. The acute post-traumatic headache will end within 3 months of the traumatic event whereas a chronic headache will continue beyond this timespan. Headache due to Whiplash Injury Headaches attributable to a whiplash injury are classified in the same was as the Post-Traumatic Headache (see paragraph above). Whiplash, defined as the sudden and significant acceleration/deceleration movement of the neck, can be partially alleviated by ultrasound application across the upper trapezius muscles in the back of the neck. BFST™ - Using Your Body's Natural Healing System![]() Your body can heal itself! In fact, your body starts healing itself the moment you are injured and it's the blood in your body that makes it all happen. Your blood is the transport mechanism for everything that is good inside you. It carries oxygen, nutrients, water and antibodies. Proper blood flow is essential to healing. Unfortunately, when you injure your body you stop moving and the swelling sets in. That means your vital blood flow can be reduced to a trickle! If you want to heal quickly, you need to keep your blood moving and that's where Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy™, or BFST™, comes in. Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy™ promotes the flow of blood through the injured area without the need to exercise your already damaged tissue. You can really feel it work. Within moments of applying an Inferno Wrap™ you can feel the healing sensation and the increase in blood flow. During a treatment, and for quite some time after you finish, your injured area will experience increased blood flow even though your body is at rest. It's a soothing sensation and extremely effective. With BFST™ your injury is constantly being fed with healing, nutritious, oxygen and energy filled blood. This is exactly what your body needs to heal. How An Inferno Wrap™ Works
Inferno Wraps™ have been specifically designed for the treatment of deep, soft tissue injury. Inferno Wraps contain a patented Energy Web™ which is flexible and shaped to conform to your body. This Energy Web™ emits a uniform wave of perfectly safe electro-magnetic energy over its entire surface. That's why we sell them, because they are the best. We have noticed over time that our customers are so fond of our cold wraps that they are frequently coming back and ordering a second one. The wraps are becoming very popular with baseball and soccer trainers, and the wraps can be conveniently stored in a cooler for quick application on the field when needed. | Dear MendMeShop, Hello, Ladies: In the summer of 2007, after hobbling around for a couple of months with a tremendous pain in my right foot, I limped into my orthopedic surgeon's office and was diagnosed with Achilles tendonitis. He told me this was one of those situations where you want to try everything else imaginable before surgery to see if you can get it fixed because the surgery itself was intense and the recovery time long. He stuck me in a big blue boot to immobilize my foot and sent me to PT for a couple of months. My foot calmed down a little, but walking in the boot made my opposite hip hurt so much it felt like a screwdriver was being jammed into the joint. So, I took off the boot and it just rode around in the back seat of my car. We were like cousins - we were close, but we didn't touch. Over the next year, I tried every alternative treatment I could think of. Since I am a Rolfer, of course, I tried Rolfing. Chiropracitc adjustments. Cold Laser treatments. Creams. Ointments. Homeopathic pellets. Heat. Cold.. Prayer. Toxic doses of ibuprofen. I even slept a few nights with a chunk of turquoise duct-taped to the back of my foot. I was desperate. A few weeks ago, two things happened. One, my acupuncturist began hooking the needles she stuck into my foot up to some sort of Chinese jumper cables, which seemed to help a lot. And, two, I ran across your web site on the internet. Even though the price of the ultrasound unit seemed expensive to me, the constant pain in my foot was making me crazy and, as my friend Stephen said, "Well, three hundred bucks is a small price to pay for sanity." He was right. I began using my Ultrasound unit as soon as it arrived and have done it faithfully each day for the past week, along with the inferno wrap each evening and the cold wrap a time or two for some swelling. I didn't expect it to work this well this quickly, honestly. So, each step I take without pain or without that tightness in the back of my foot so intense it feels like my tendon is about to snap, well, it brings tears to my eyes, but only tears of joy and relief. This is how I explain it to people: "Imagine that 18 months ago or so a gila monster latched onto the back of your foot with its spiney little teeth and has ridden around, clamped down on you, all this time. The pain has been intense, constant, relentless and unending. There have been no breaks it and no cure in sight, like the obnoxious party guest who won't leave. Suddenly, the gila monster, that sneaky little SOB, has let go. Just imagine the relief. That's how I feel." So, I don't know if you can use this rant in your testimonials because it's an awfully long e-mail just to say THANK YOU for this product. My foot continues to heal, and I will continue to do both acupuncture AND my ultrasound treatments but, at this moment I can say, MY FOOT HAS NOT HURT ALL DAY AND THE DAY IS ALREADY HALF OVER. For me, that's a miracle. If I could turn handsprings, I would do so right down the street in front of my office. Since I can't turn handsprings, I think I'll just go for a walk.
