Medial Collateral Ligament Sprain (MCL Sprain)The Medial Collateral Ligament otherwise more commonly referred to as the MCL is the ligament found on the inside of the knee. This important ligament of the knee joins the end of the femur (thigh bone) and the top of the tibia (shin bone). It is tightly drawn when the leg is straight thereby preventing the 'opening up' of the knee joint. Causes ![]() Minor tears may not be noticed immediately but rather appear anywhere from a few hours to 2 days later. Common symptoms include pain and swelling directly over the ligament. Bruising will often appear 1-2 days after the injury occurs. More serious tears or ruptures of the MCL ligament may also make the knee feel unstable and leave the individual unable or unwilling to walk. Treatment Very occasionally an individual with an MCL injury will require surgery. More often though, individuals with mild or moderate tearing will wear a hinged knee brace and will be advised to seek physiotherapy treatment. A common technique used in the treatment of MCL injuries by physiotherapists is ultrasound. Ultrasound is a healing technique that has been in existence around the world for many decades. Ultrasound reduces swelling and pain in the knee. At the same time it also increases the blood supply to the affected area stimulating tissues and increasing the rate of healing. ![]() Not only does ultrasound aid in the duration of healing, but it helps to prevent long term complications. Pain, scar tissue, lack of mobility and arthritis are some of the more common long term complications from an MCL injury. By speeding up the healing process with ultrasound, less scar tissue is formed, swelling and pain are reduced. For those who suffer from long term complications of existing Medial Collateral Ligament injuries, ultrasound can help. Ultrasound therapy can help to break up scar and fibrous tissue in the affected area. For those with chronic pain and inflammation ultrasound will help to reduce these and free the individual. Prevention BFST™ - Using Your Body's Natural Healing System![]() Your body can heal itself! In fact, your body starts healing itself the moment you are injured and it's the blood in your body that makes it all happen. Your blood is the transport mechanism for everything that is good inside you. It carries oxygen, nutrients, water and antibodies. Proper blood flow is essential to healing. Unfortunately, when you injure your body you stop moving and the swelling sets in. That means your vital blood flow can be reduced to a trickle! If you want to heal quickly, you need to keep your blood moving and that's where Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy™, or BFST™, comes in. Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy™ promotes the flow of blood through the injured area without the need to exercise your already damaged tissue. You can really feel it work. Within moments of applying an Inferno Wrap™ you can feel the healing sensation and the increase in blood flow. During a treatment, and for quite some time after you finish, your injured area will experience increased blood flow even though your body is at rest. It's a soothing sensation and extremely effective. With BFST™ your injury is constantly being fed with healing, nutritious, oxygen and energy filled blood. This is exactly what your body needs to heal. How An Inferno Wrap™ Works

If you have symptoms or are recovering from a knee related injury, using ultrasound on a regular basis before your activity or throughout the day will help relax your muscles, tendons and tissues, diminish pain and inflammation, soften scar tissue and contribute greatly to the healing of your injury. If you suffer from mild inflammation or pain after certain activities or movements use ultrasound therapy when you complete the activity and then rest and elevate your area of injury. Limit the application of ultrasound to a couple of treatments per day (the manual will recommend treatment frequency depending upon the injury). In between ultrasound treatments, maximize your pain relief and injury recovery by using an Inferno™ Personal Therapy System. Proven Performance, Proven Relief - only found at MendMeShop.com. | Dear MendMeShop, My husband and I have suffered with some chronic health issues for years. I have had rheumatoid arthritis for almost twenty years, and my husband has developed some ongoing groin strains which originally occurred when he as working out too excessively on a Nordic Track machine. Since that time he has experienced more groin strains from various activities when running our ranch. We found out about the home ultrasound kit through the internet when I was trying to research any products which might offer him some relief from his pain. He had seen a physical therapist several years ago to treat a different groin strain and they used ultrasound in the office combined with ice and heat therapy. So when we learned that there was a home ultrasound device we were all for it since he'd seen such good results in physical therapy previously with ultrasound. He has noticed that it has made a huge improvement in his mobility, pain control, and the speed with which he is recovering. I plan to use it as well when I have my occasional RA flareups. Thank you for offering such a wonderful healing tool to the public! We have also ordered more of the fabulously scented ultrasound gel so that we always have the opportunity to use it.
