Therapies for Quadriceps Strains
Cold compression therapy is a great option to decrease inflammation, pain, and soft tissue (muscle, tendon, ligament, nerve and connective tissue) damage experienced with quadriceps strains and/or other quadriceps injuries.
Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy™, or BFST®, improves tissue elasticity by promoting blood flow (circulation) and brings oxygen and nutrients to your tight quadriceps muscles and tendons. This cleans your tissue by getting rid of cell waste products and helps your injury to heal. If not treated properly injured tissue can heal with a weakened state, which can lead to scar tissue or calcification.
Physical therapy will help to diminish pain in tissues and restore your weakened muscles through a variety of different methods which will be dependent on your specific condition. You will also be provided with a customized exercise program to stretch and strengthen your muscles, which will generally be started after your initial pain has subsided.
Chiropractic care, deep tissue massage, reflexology and acupressure have also shown to be effective in relieving pain, tension, and strengthening your quadriceps.
