Dear MendMeShop,

The inferno wrap did a great job on my knee and saved me from surgery! I am still using it but on my non-injured knee. I noticed no cracking and popping noises (from climbing stairs) after treatment of my left (injured) knee, so now I am treating the right knee as well. Thanks for your great product!

Dear MendMeShop,

I used the Inferno wrap diligently for weeks and my knee felt much better. (I did find out I have a torn meniscus as well as an edema on my right knee). Of course, the doctor recommended surgery, which I am trying to avoid. I was feeling much better and went back to line dancing with some pain, but kept going. I now think I went back too soon and I was feeling like I may have injured it further, so I was using the Inferno wrap 4 times a day again. I feel I should have kept on using the wrap more often and not been in such a hurry to get back to dancing. I am totally sold on the Inferno wrap. I purchased one for my achilles heel problem and it has helped it also. I am one satisfied customer.

Dear MendMeShop,

I would be happy to let you know that I am VERY pleased with the Knee Inferno Wrap that I purchased from your company in June. I suffered from recurring knee problems, pain and swelling when I would exercise or stand too long. I used it as instructed 3-4 times a day along with light cycling and swimming, my knee has improved dramatically!! I absolutely LOVE the Inferno Wrap and continue to use it when I overdo it and feel any discomfort in my knee. It truly does seem to speed up the recovery process. I would recommend your products to others. Thank you for a wonderful product!

Dear MendMeShop,

I love all of your products. My knee is doing better since I bought the knee cold and Inferno wrap. It treats the exact area I am trying to heal - I am recovering from a broken femur. Thank you so much.

What is sciatica?

Sciatica, alternatively referred to as lumbar radiculopathy, is more appropriately a symptom rather than a diagnosis since sciatica pain is derived from an irritation of the sciatic nerve.

Location of the sciatic nerve

While the true injury usually resides in the vertebrae and the muscles surrounding the lower spine, the pain is referred to the legs, thighs and even the feet.

This is the case because the sciatic nerve is responsible for transferring sensory and motor information between the spine and legs. It runs from the lower back (lumbar spine) where it exits the spinal canal, down through the pelvis and splits into each leg. Thus, any pressure on the sciatic nerve resulting from a herniated disc in the lower spine, for example, refers pain into the legs.

Sciatic pain can range from cramping sensations to shooting pain. It may only occur in the hip or extend down the leg, or may occur as constant pain in the buttock and lower back.

True sciatica is technically defined by a pinching of the sciatic nerve. Typically people between the ages of 30 and 50 are more prone to back injury, most likely due to heavy physical labour or simply an over-exertion of the spine and surrounding muscles. Sciatica can be triggered by certain activities such as physical stress, poor posture and weight gain which increases pressure on the lower back. Generally, activities such as climbing stairs, walking, straightening the leg, and running agravate the nerve and increase the pain.

While a herniated disc in the lower back, from the lumbar vertebra L4-5 through the sacral vertebra S1-3, is the most common cause, other sources of sciatic nerve damage may include:

  • spinal stenosis
  • swollen periformis muscle or periformis syndrome
  • degenerative disc disease
  • sacroiliac joint dysfunction
  • isthmic spondylolisthesis

With the variety of causes of sciatica pain it is important to get a proper diagnosis. Generally, sciatica can be resolved by identifying and treating the underlying cause. An MRI, CT scan, or nerve function test may be necessary in order to determine the specific cause of your sciatica.

Although sciatica may get better without any treatment, pain relief and the healing process can be accelerated with proven therapies in your own home. Most episodes of sciatica are once-in-a-lifetime, however, some people have a tendency to have a flare-up occasionally. It may be necessary to adopt a lifestyle of preventive measures if you're prone to sciatica.

Sciatica Home Treatments

Compression of the sciatic nerve can occur in various locations and the exact cause and location is not always known. Treating the symptoms can be helpful to manage the pain but treating the source of the compression will result in faster sciatica relief. We recommend that you see your doctor for a proper diagnosis and to determine the cause of the compression on the sciatic nerve.

MendMeShop Success Stories

If the compression is caused by swelling, you can reduce your pain by applying a Freezie Wrap® when the pain first occurs, to alleviate the swelling that is causing the compression on the nerve. Once the initial pain is reduced, treat the soft tissue inflammation with cold compression therapy for fast relief of sciatica pain.

Freezie Wrap® Cold Therapy

If you are experiencing referred pain above the knee or in your lower leg caused by the compression of your sciatic nerve, cold compression therapy can provide some relief. The cooling sensation along with the compression can help to numb the nerves to help alleviate the pain. However, treatment of the location of the compression is most important to treat the source of this referred pain.

The Back/Hip Freezie Wrap treats pain, swelling and inflammation while reducing tissue damage.

Applying cold compression wherever you are experiencing pain will help. The Back/Hip Freezie Wrap® is versatile and can be used to treat your lower back, hip or leg. It's unique supercharged cooling gel pack, chills in the fridge, not in the freezer like ice or other freezer packs, giving you deep cold therapy without the risk of 'cold burns' or cryoburn.

Treat your sciatica pain with cold compression therapy as needed throughout the day. The Back/Hip Freezie Wrap® can be used to apply cold in a safe, convenient and effective way - and the gel pack is reusable.

Inferno Wrap® Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy

Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy, or BFST®, should be used over your lumbar region and lower back to improve blood flow and nourish soft tissue. Your body needs a fresh supply of blood to improve the health of your tissue and treat the muscle strain or irritation to relieve the compression of your sciatic nerve.

The Back/Hip Inferno Wrap keeps your muscle tissue as healthy as possible, reducing the chance of sciatica pain returning.

Unfortunately, when you are suffering from sciatica it can be painful to even walk or lift your leg. When you limit movement in your hip the blood flow is reduced, starving your tissue of the necessary oxygen and nutrients.

The trick is to find a way to increase blood flow without causing pain and/or further inflaming the muscle or discs. This is where blood flow stimulation therapy, or BFST®, becomes a powerful tool.

BFST® compliments your body's natural healing process By promoting blood flow while you give your sciatic nerve the rest it needs.

The Back/Hip Inferno Wrap® uses a patented process to generate the same energy that is part of the sun's spectrum of light, the same energy that is necessary to all living things for optimum health. The energy emitted from the Energy Web® stimulates blood flow to your lower back and hip, more than your body would ever be able to generate on it's own, giving your body the boost it needs to keep your spine and lower back muscles as healthy as possible and reduce the risk of irritation, inflammation and herniation. The soothing energy reaches deep into your body to whisk away the toxins and dead cells, and rejuvenate your muscle tissues for improved elasticity.

With these easy-to-use, pain-free, home therapies from MendMeShop®, pain is significantly reduced, tissue heals faster, and there's an incredible improvement in the range of motion of your hip. The more diligent you are with your treatment and rehabilitation, the faster you will see successful results!
